I decided to pair 4 Nephi with Mormon because this little pair of books perfectly encapsulates the history of a righteous Nephite nation that is eventually destroyed because of pride and dissensions. It is a fulfillment of prophecies made to Nephi and other Book of Mormon prophets. Early on—and repeated often—the people of the promised land are told that if they will keep the commandments of God, they will prosper in the land; if they do not, they will be cut off from His presence. This also means being cut off from his blessings and influence. Left to themselves they fall.
