  • Are New York State's bail reform laws to blame for Thursday's homicide? (7-17-25 Full Show)

Buffalo was rocked by the news of a homicide that took place Thursday morning in which a 44-year-old woman was gunned down in a home on South Ogden Street, allegedly by 49-year-old Rickey Crouch, who had a past record of multiple arrests, including one which posted a $50,000 bail and the District Attorney's office requested he not be released. We have from Buffalo's acting Mayor Chris Scanlon and former Erie County District Attorney John Flynn on the tragedy, and the need for adjustments to New York State's bail reform laws, although this incident did not occur while Crouch was out on bail. Also, we hear from John Domres of Buffalo Brewing Company after they had equipment vital to their operation vandalized, and the idea of bringing nuclear power to Dunkirk has been floated, there have been discussions about repurposing the old NRG plant as a nuclear power plant. Would you be on board with this? Is it worth the risk?

Flynn also explains why the main suspect, Rickey Crouch, who had a past record of multiple arrests, including one previous arrest which posted a $50,000 bail and the District Attorney's office requested he not be released, was ultimately released and was able to walk free before ultimately allegedly committing this heinous act.

The prime suspect, Rickey Crouch, had a past record of multiple arrests. One of those two previous arrests posted a $50,000 bail and the District Attorney's office requested he not be released. Although Crouch was not on bail at the time of this incident, Mayor Scanlon also used this opportunity to outline why bail reform needs to be re-examined in New York State.
