In May 2016, Colombian footballer Pablo Armero was arrested in Miami after an alleged domestic-violence incident involving his partner, María Elena Bazán. Police responded to reports of screaming in a hotel room and found Bazán crying, with hair on the floor; she told officers that Armero had become aggressive after a night out, allegedly pulling out her hair extensions and cutting her hair with clippers when she refused his advances. Armero denied the allegations and claimed she had asked him to cut her hair.
