  • AtL Interview - Ron Newcomb
    Dec 13 2025

I had the pleasure of speaking with Ron Newcomb on Around the Lens Interviews the other day. We talked about the struggles filmmakers face in raising money to make their visions a reality. The one thing Ron emphasised the most about money as it relates to filmmaking is that it isn't a problem, it is THE PROBLEM that filmmakers must overcome to be successful. We also talk about the Concept Compass Filmmaker Bootcamp that Ron and his team run, which I had the opportunity to attend. This bootcamp equips the unitiated with the tools they need to succeed when packaging and pitching a project for investment or funding.

  • AtL RtD 001 - We're Back!
    Nov 11 2025

After far too long, Around the Lens is BACK! The show you know and love featuring a wide variety of guests and topics, is back with a new title, "Roundtable Discussions." You might be asking, "Why change the show name?" Well, here's why: Around the Lens is more than just one show; it's a platform for visual creatives in photography, photojournalism, documentary, and narrative filmmaking to gather and discuss various aspects of our craft. This show, Roundtable Discussions, is just that: a group discussion about one or more topics that deserve introspection and analysis. The topic might be highly relevant and newsworthy, or it might be an evergreen topic that we're all just eager to discuss. Either way, we welcome you on this journey and hope you'll join us each week.

In this week's episode, we're joined by long-time AtL alums, Jamie Rose and Mike "Sharky" James. These guests, who have been with the show since the beginning, join co-hosts David J. Murphy and Zach Roberts for a riveting discussion about the effects and impacts of generative AI in the worlds of photography and photojournalism.
