Area Catholics prepare for a parish reshuffle.

The Archdiocese of Detroit is starting a two-year effort to rethink how every parish operates. Fewer Catholics, a shrinking priesthood, and aging buildings are driving the changes. Parishes will be reorganized into new pastorates by 2027, with public listening sessions guiding decisions. Leaders say the goal is a stronger, more sustainable Church for the future.
