Mark, you sounds like a child when it comes to pancakes. Rip and dip is the method of toddlers. I mean come on, after 34 years, you haven’t pancaked hard enough to be able to eyeball the correct amount of syrup to pancake ratio? Factor in the amount of other foods you have and when you begin to eat your pancake to determine when to add the syrup, (which the mostly correct answer is last as it’s brekky dessert) and then not adding butter? Please.. you need butter then extra butter flavored syrup, even more so if it’s the delicate whipped butter served at restaurants. Get your pancake game right sir, pancake deserves much better than what you’re flipping out of your skillet
