शादी के बाद विदा होती बेटियों और अंधाधुंध कटते पेड़ों के बीच कोई सम्बन्ध हो सकता है क्या? उत्तराखंड के ग्वालदम में तो होता है। एक अध्यापक की सूझबूझ ने शादी के बाद विदा होने वाली लड़कियों के परिवार वालों से उसकी याद में पेड़ लगाने की अपील की और यही अपील धीरे धीरे वृक्षारोपण के ऐसे अभियान में बदल गई जिसे 3000 गाँवों ने अपनाया और हर गाँव की लड़कियों ने इसका ऐसा प्रसार किया की आज ग्वालदम के पहाड़ हरेभरे हो गए हैं।
