An interview with Joel Fearon and Katie Stainton

Today’s episode features Joel Fearon and Katie Stainton, two athletes who visited the school to deliver an inspirational assembly and some high-energy coaching sessions to all the Eastlands children. Joel is the fifth fastest British 100m sprinter of all time, a rare athlete who’s performed at the pinnacle of both Summer and Winter Sports, bringing home a bronze medal in the four man bobsleigh event from the 2014 Sochi Olympics. We hear how a local lad from Coventry made it to the top of the mountain. Katie’s also a local West Midlands athlete, a teenage 400m Hurdles specialist who branched out into the multi-event heptathlon. Selected for England at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia, we’ll hear about the triumphs and challenges for an athlete on the road to recovery and the life lessons we can learn from her experiences.
