Acerca de esta escucha

As we celebrate Cancer Prevention Awareness Month, Haley Rose Pontius from the American Cancer Society (ACS) talks about the importance of preventing cancer at an early age.

The way to do that is by implementing the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine that prevents 6 types of cancers in the long run. Children between the ages of 9 and 12, can receive the HPV vaccine by consulting the family doctor. Miss Haley confirmed that the vaccine is safe, effective, and long-lasting.

According to ACS, HPV can cause the majority of cervical, vaginal, vulvar, anal, penile, and oropharyngeal cancers (cancers of the throat and tongue) and genital warts.

To prevent these illnesses, the ACS is on its mission every day of the year to help prevent HPV cancers by working in partnership with health professionals and organizations in the nation and around the globe.
