  • 7. Our day at the Kennesaw State University Orchestra Invitational
    Nov 6 2021

This episode captures student reactions from our trip to Kennesaw State University for their annual Orchestra Invitational event on October 29, 2021. Included are short samples from each orchestra --  Philharmonia, Sinfonia, and Symphony Strings. Part of the experience is having the opportunity to work with a guest clinician.  This year we were fortunate to work with Kirk Mosier, a nationally-known composer, conductor, and music educator. The students had a wonderful time and a great experience overall, including a fantastic lunch at the KSU Commons dining facility.  It was nice to travel and perform in such a wonderful space!!

  • 2. Our first large group rehearsals in nearly a year!
    Feb 23 2021

After nearly a year, the AHSO orchestras have finally been able to have large group rehearsals!! Currently preparing for Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE), the 5 orchestras have been divided into two ensembles, the first group consists of members from Concert, Philharmonia, and Sinfonia.  The second group is comprised of members from Symphony and Chamber.

On February 18, 2021, we had our first large group rehearsal!  It felt great to be able to make music together and it was fantastic to see students socializing during breaks.  This podcast episode contains a few remarks from Dr. Laux, a few short samples from our "group 1" rehearsal, and some reactions from students afterward.

    Here's to more music-making!
