    Dec 10 2025

There's an unspoken hierarchy in TV here where romance is tolerated as a subplot but rarely trusted to carry a series. Why do you think American platforms are comfortable betting hundreds of millions on crime, fantasy, and superheroes but get nervous about a straightforward love story? This week, your noonas tackle this very questions and are making a plea to the streaming channels. We know romance. We know K-dramas. Please, for the love of the highest grossing genre in publishing, hear us out as to why we need to follow the K-Drama model and adapt more romance novels for the small screen.

I was introduced to K dramas after going on a TV sabbatical after bing watching 8 years of Game of Thrones in 3 years . I was left needing years of therapy and isolation. I was emotionally spent and taking completely away from my reality …. Fast forward 3.5 years later I stumbled upon My Country while in COVID isolation. I watched the entire series in 3 days … forsaking food, showering, hell even all movement !! I would say after that … I was hooked K drama became a drug , an alternate reality to take me away from my current reality! I had to see if there was anyone else out here that felt the way I feel . my friends think I’m nuts - I analyze, review against historical contact , or just plain swoon over everyone ! I found your podcast about 2 months ago and have need diligently listening . Thank you I feel like I’m having a cup of coffee in the room while we are all discussing Kdramas! Content is great, the noonas are funny , and I learn something every episode . If you’re a K drama fan in USA this is the podcast to listen to .. thank you - I feel my obsession is completely normal if their are podcast about it !!

New Jersey Noona … loves these Noonas
