Preaching from Luke 2:1-20, our third Advent Sermon from Pastor Hugh Chalk.
In this third Advent message, we turn to Luke’s account of Jesus’ birth and the astonishing humility of the King of Kings arriving in the world as a helpless child laid in a manger. Set in the historic period ruled by Caesar Augustus, this passage reminds us that God is sovereign over rulers, events, and even census decrees as He fulfils His ancient promises. We reflect on the joy of the angels’ announcement to the shepherds, that a Saviour has been born who brings peace with God to those who trust Him, and the way that joy overflows into sharing the good news with others. Above all, this message calls us to rejoice that Christ has come to save us from sin, to give us true peace, and to fill our lives with worship, gratitude, and unshakeable joy.
