Advent 2025 part 2

Preaching from Matthew 1:18-25 our second Advent Sermon from Pastor Hugh Chalk.

In this second Advent message, we move from the genealogy of Jesus to the powerful moment when God’s long-promised plan reaches its fullness in the birth of Christ. Looking at Matthew 1:18–25 and Galatians 4:4–5, we see how every step of history from Abraham to David to Mary and Joseph was orchestrated by God to bring His Son into the world at exactly the right time. Through Joseph’s story we’re reminded that God’s promises never fail, even when circumstances look confusing or painful, and that faith often means trusting God before we can see the full picture. Above all, this passage declares the hope of “Immanuel — God with us,” assuring us that the God who kept His promises then is the same God who walks with us now.
