Jury selection is set to begin Monday in the trial of a man accused in the 1990 DeKalb County double homicide of a sister and brother. Kenneth Perry, 56, is accused of stabbing Pamela and Joseph Sumter on July 15, 1990. On June 26, 2024, a grand jury indicted Perry after police said DNA evidence eventually linked what had been a cold case back to him. Samuel Bassett, a veteran criminal defense attorney based with Minton Bassett Flores and Carsey, talks about the role DNA evidence played in Perry's indictment, and how both prosecutors and defense attorneys should proceed as Perry's trial unfolds.
