The Captains of Surton Spire discuss the events of Banner Aviol's invasion and battle. The King's victory will be spoken of for generations, but not all are happy with the King.

Banner Aviol, Destined Blade of the Protharian Empire, battles the dragonkin ruler, Gohdin. Magic, blades, and unyielding spirits that refuse to submit. The battle ends with the death of one... or both.

Gohdin (Christoph) is pushed to a breaking point. In his ignorance and weakness, he is subject to the Destined Blade's attacks. If he cannot win... he'll ensure Banner loses as well.

The Destined Blade follows Christoph into Tartarus. Deep beneath Surton Spire, humans are shown the first layer of the city, and there is no dragon to be found.

Instead, a lack of respect is paid in kind. As Christoph debates with the undead and dragon within his head, the Destined Blade is given the verdict.

Death.

Christoph must lie. He must calm himself. He has to play the part of young conscripted boy.

But oh, there is a plot. Welcome Nodure, to Surton Spire. Come meet the dragon - Gohdin.

Gohdin introduces himself to the army of the Protharian Empire. Upon the fields of grass he once died, he faces the man that led him to his end.

Gohdin prepares Surton Spire for the approaching humans. The Destined Blade is his main concern, yet the two other voices in his head (the undead and draconic) argue for bloodshed and supremacy.

He readies his troops, gives the order, and exits the mountain with just three by his side. He has chosen to meet with the people who come knocking at his door. He's chosen to begin with diplomacy, yet it may not end that way.

Nodure and Banner surround Surton Spire. There are answers they seek. Glories to be found. Redemption in the eyes of the Emperor. But they aren't prepared.
