Il y a une petite maison à côté d'une grande forêt. Dans cette maison habite une famille. Il y a le père, la mère et leurs enfants. Le petit garçon s'appelle Hansel et la petite fille s’appelle Gretel. Les parents travaillent comme bûcherons. Ils coupent du bois dans la forêt pour gagner de l'argent. La vie est difficile parce que la famille est très pauvre. Un jour, les parents prennent une terrible décision qui va changer la vie d'Hansel et Gretel.
