A primeira temporada do Habcast chega ao seu último episódio entrevistando a Antropóloga Norte Americana Janice Perlman. Ao longo de seis décadas Janice nos conta como foi viver em pleno período da ditadura, dentro da favela enquanto desenvolvia sua pesquisa e posteriormente com sua nova pesquisa que resultou na continuidade do seu primeiro livro, reencontrar décadas depois, antigos moradores e ter conseguido comparar e analisar a vida de gerações de moradores nas favelas cariocas. Ela foi professora titular do Departamento de Planejamento Urbano e Regional da Universidade da Califórnia em Berkeley. Os seus prêmiosincluem o Guggenheim, o Fulbright, o Global Citizen's e o UN Scroll of Honor. Ela é bacharel em Antropologia pela Universidade de Cornell e é doutora em Ciência Política pelo MIT.

The first season of Habcast reaches its final episode with an interview with North American anthropologist Janice Perlman. Over the course of six decades, Janice tells us what it was like to live in the midst of the dictatorship, inside the favela while conducting her research, and later with her new research that resulted in the continuation of her first book, reuniting decades later with former residents, and being able to compare and analyze the lives of generations of residents in Rio's favelas. Janice talks about her quest to understand, within Rio's main favelas, a feeling that has now somewhat disappeared: What does it mean to be a person in Rio's favelas?

Dr. Perlman’s work bridges the worlds of research, policy and practice. Her book, The Myth of Marginality, won the C. Wright Mills Award and was named #1 of the 5 best books on “the economy as if people mattered.” Her sequel, "FAVELA: Four Decades of Living on the Edge in Rio de Janeiro" , won the PROSE Award in 2 categories. She is Founder & President of The Mega-Cities Project, a global NGO sharing innovativesolutions among the world’s largest cities. She was a tenured faculty member in University of California Berkeley’s Dept of City & Regional Planning. Her Awards include a Guggenheim, Fulbright, Global Citizen’s and the UN Scroll of Honor. She holds a BA in Anthropology from Cornell and a PhD in Political Science from MIT.
