A Life Over Freedom: The Magnificent Six

In June 2017, six inmates in Polk County, Georgia, were faced with a split-second decision: take advantage of a deputy’s medical emergency to escape, or stay and save his life. They chose the latter. This episode tells the story of the 'Magnificent 6,' who performed life-saving measures on their unconscious guard during a sweltering work detail. We discuss the incredible moment they used his own phone to call 911 and why their decision to stay rather than run speaks volumes about the character of people often dismissed by society.
