Seeing the world from an airplane, up in the clouds, looking down at the earth with its tiny houses and cars, changes your perspective! Perhaps that is why worshiping outdoors on summer days is so powerful. A new location shifts how we see things. It reminds us not only to notice the familiar people and places we cherish, but also to expand our understanding. And sometimes, that expanded vision can feel disruptive.

Fourteenth-century mystic Julian of Norwich lived through immense social, political, and religious turmoil. In the midst of it, she received a series of visions that transformed her understanding of God.

Take a moment to reflect on God’s love for all people and the whole created world. How is your perspective changed as you meditate on God’s care for everything? May we come to see, deeply and truly, that nothing can separate us from the love of God.
