Episode Description:
In this deeply personal episode, I take a step back from neurodivergence education and content creation to reflect on the journey that brought me here — from my first steps as an Emergency Care Assistant, through the challenges of life as a Technician, to now standing at the edge of becoming a fully registered Paramedic.
I share the highs, the humbling lessons, and the mentors — including the ones no longer in my life — who helped shape the clinician and the person I’ve become.
But at the heart of this reflection is one call. One patient. A quiet moment with a dying man whose story cracked through years of emotional armour and forced me to confront fears I hadn’t fully acknowledged — about love, abandonment, and the kind of wounds we carry silently beneath the uniform.
This is a story about growth. About gratitude. About the weight of empathy and the quiet cost of showing up day after day. It’s for anyone who has ever felt broken by something no one else could see — and kept climbing anyway.
🩺 Whether you’re in the ambulance service, navigating life with neurodivergence, or simply trying to hold space for others while holding yourself together — this one’s for you.
