    In episode 151 Sam is joined by film & theatre director and writer Simon Stone. His new movie, The Woman in Cabin 10, starring Keira Knightley is now streaming on Netflix.

    Simon has chosen Elephant (88 mins). The 2003 Palme d'Or winner directed by Gus Van Sant, and stars mostly unknown actors including Alex Frost, Eric Deulen, John Robinson, Elias McConnell, and Kristen Hicks.

    Sam and Simon discuss making his new movie and working with Netflix, the pioneering filmmaking in Elephant, and a rare appearance of Béla Tarr on the podcast.

    In episode 150 Sam is joined by playwright, screenwriter, and actor Tracy Letts. Tracy is one of stars of Kathryn Bigelow's new film, A House of Dynamite, now streaming on Netflix.

    Tracy has chosen Paths of Glory (88 mins). Directed by Stanley Kubrick, the 1957 anti-war film stars Kirk Douglas, Adolphe Menjou, and George Macready.

    Sam and Tracy discuss working with Kathryn Bigelow, why Paths of Glory is his second favourite Kubrick film, and his vast physical media collection.

    In episode 149 Sam is joined by filmmaker Phil Johnston, director of The Twits, now streaming on Netflix. Phil's other work includes Wreck-It Ralph, Zootopia, and Ralph Breaks the Internet.

    Phil has chosen Salesman (90 mins). An early example of a direct cinema documentary film, it was directed by brothers Albert and David Maysles and Charlotte Zwerin. The film follows four door-to-door Bible salesmen: Charles McDevitt, James Baker, Raymond Martos, and Paul Brennan.

    Sam and Phil discuss his gateway into Roald Dahl, his love of the characters in Salesman, and casting Johnny Vegas as Mr. Twit.

    Sam and Justin discuss editing Him down to just 96 minutes, working with Jordan Peele, and how Italian neorealist movies changed Justin's life.

    Chase has chosen Fantastic Mr Fox (87 mins). Directed by Wes Anderson, the stop-motion animation was released in 2009 and stars George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, and Willem Dafoe.

    Sam and Chase discuss auditioning for Paul Thomas Anderson, discovering Fantastic Mr Fox as a child and how the city of Bath inspired the architecture in the film.

    Ari has chosen Hukkle (78 mins). The 2002 Hungarian experimental film was written and directed by György Pálfi. The film has been recently restored and released on Blu-ray in the US by Vinegar Syndrome.

    Sam and Ari discuss the joys of long and short runtimes, the innovative cross-cut edits in Hukkle and how the film has influenced Ari's own work.
