#8 : French loves summer

Here comes summer. 5 weeks of paid vacation thanks to the Popular Front of 1936 and the French rush to the beaches, to the roads, everywhere where no one needs them. The city streets are deserted (if only...) and the radios play wild music supposed to encourage the people to dance and to be carefree. Total idleness, assumed. Ok. Noted. If I had toes, they would be fanned out. I would sip tangy and colorful drinks with a plastic straw at the edge of the water. And I would listen to this compilation of music said to be ideal for summer.
