Welcome back to Kadhaineram! In today's episode, we bring you a beautiful a Guru-Sishyan story that teach a profound life lesson.
When a group of disciples goes on a pilgrimage to bathe in sacred rivers to wash away their sins, their wise Guru hands them a bitter gourd (Pagarkai) and asks them to dip it in the holy waters as well. Upon their return, the Guru cooks the bitter gourd, and the disciples are surprised to find it is still incredibly bitter!
The Guru gently explains that just as the holy river cannot wash away the innate bitterness of the vegetable, mere rituals and sacred baths cannot wash away our sins. True purity comes from letting go of our ego ("I" and "Mine"), behaving well, showing affection to others, and living with empathy. Tune in to listen to this thought-provoking Tamil moral story!
