  • This week on SRS, we welcome Command SGT Major (R), Tom Satterly to the show. Satterly is a former Delta Force Operator with over twenty years of combat experience. He has participated in operations all across the globe. We're breaking his incredible story into a three part series. Part 3 In this episode, Satterly tells us about the aftermath of Somalia and his career during the Global War on Terror. Then, we get into Satterly's transition out of Special Operations and into his civilian life where his personal war was just beginning. SRS also welcomes special guest Co-Founder & CEO of All Secure Foundation. Jen & Tom share some eye opening statistics around Veteran suicide and give an unfiltered look at what families go through when their warriors come home. Amazing

At the end discussing veteran suicide things, there def are other reasons. When I got out of the Army in 2018, going through the out processing process, the nco sold off the life insurance we had to keep by saying how it would still payout for suicide unlike the civ kind, and at 22 a day, you never know. To me, I was leaving the Army due to the mental/family toll hit, and the deal sounded good.

Another thing to others, the VA's help differs person to person. I've had great and bad. But by being so under staffed, it's not often to get a visit and the good seem to get burned out and leave. But one warning, once you admit to VA you got issues, it's in the federal government file. When I was in the hiring process for a DHS career, the medical section was red flagged for ptsd and I was auto booted for them having access to the VA files.
