Melanie is a leading expert on the rising cohort of childless, often single, women. She is founder of SAVVY AUNTIE®: A Celebration of Modern Aunthood, a media company where she established Auntie’s Day®, the annual celebration of aunts that occurs every fourth Sunday in July. Melanie uncovered and coined the term PANK® (Professional Aunt No Kids) for the socially and economically influential tribe of women who love the children in their life.

Melanie is the national bestselling author of SAVVY AUNTIE: The Ultimate Guide for Cool Aunts, Great-Aunts, Godmothers, and All Women Who Love Kids. Her second book, a reported memoir entitled: OTHERHOOD: Modern Women Finding a New Kind of Happiness, which focuses on women like herself who are single and childless by circumstance, received a Booklist Starred Review.
