You might not have an issue with the word test, but based on my experiences the word test has negative connotations. I had several boyfriends in the past whose excuses for their bad behavior was that they were "testing me." I prayed about the word test bothering me since I know God is not manipulative like my exes were. The word Jesus gave me instead was proof.
