5. All in the Family

Episode 5: After his miraculous victory against Goliath, David is welcomed into Saul’s home, where he hopes to win the hand of Saul’s eldest daughter, Merab. But as Israelite loyalty begins to grow for the giant-slayer, Saul does all he can to keep him in a lowly position.

Story synopsis: After years of warring factions and corruption of the priests and prophets, the Israelites demand that God give them a king. Despite the warning of the prophet Samuel, King Saul is anointed. While Saul is a great warrior and leader, God is angered when he unlawfully offers a sacrifice and disobeys divine instruction. Learning that the kingdom will be taken from him, Saul becomes increasingly paranoid. As Saul slips into madness a future king begins to rise, one who is arguably the greatest king the world has ever seen: King David.
