Socrates is attributed with writing “the unexamined life is not worth living.” What that means to me is a life not challenged by adversity is a life suffering from malnutrition of the soul. Physical and emotional nourishment comes from growth, which happens in stages. Thus, us living our lives in parts. Understanding that helps us to see beyond the fog of life and into the center of our being where clarity lives. Otherwise, we are doomed to live life in fractured pieces.
