3. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

It's hard to talk about open world games with deep lore, lush fantasy set pieces, and memorable quest lines without talking about Skyrim.  Developed and published by Bethesda Game Studios, Skyrim tells the story of the Dovakiin.  A mortal with the soul of a dragon, how cool is that? This game takes the player through a rich fantastical world of Tamriel's snowy mountain province of Skyrim to help stop Alduin the World Eater from bringing destruction to all of Tamriel.
