You can prevent 15 - 20% of bowel cancers through exercise. Even just walking works to reduce that risk. But not only that - chemo and cancer related fatigue can be alleviated through exercise too. I felt all of these benefits when I was going through chemotherapy for Stage 2 Bowel Cancer last year. Yes, some days it was hard - I won’t deny it. I remember doing a few body squats and needing to rest for a couple minutes each time but you know what? Moving my body in any capacity helped. So today I wanted to talk to the incredible Molly from Strength Squad - which is dedicated to helping people who have been diagnosed with bowel cancers (from diagnosis to post chemo) start moving their bodies and fight the cancer. Not only is Molly trained in providing oncology support for cancer patients but you’ll be moving alongside a group of people going through the exact same situation as you. The in person sessions are in South Yarra but Molly is opening up online groups mid March. You can check it out here. Stick around to find out: The landmark study that showed a 28% reduction in recurrence and a 37% reduction in risk of death How up to 20% of bowel cancers could be prevented through movement How exercise activates cancer-fighting cells and supports chemotherapy What’s really happening inside your body when you strength train during treatment Why losing muscle during chemo can quietly make everyday life harder Why “just rest” isn’t always the answer to chemo fatigue How to move your body when you’re nauseated, exhausted and scared The exact amount of exercise that actually changes outcomes (it’s less than you think) … and SO much more Want more of Molly and Strength Squad?
