[SFA103] Earl and jaQ` are back with more stanning of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, having finally made it to season one, episode four, Vitus Reflux. Turns out it’s not a form of heartburn. We wander through the episode’s exploration of family and belonging against the backdrop of various kinds of competition. We get into character dynamics, particularly between Raimy and Genesis, discussing the balancing act of friendship and ambition. Earl notes that the storytelling and direction helps us examine the impact of co-ed environments on cadet relationships, while whimsical elements like the sport “Calico” serve to deepen our understanding of cadet life.
