Two Indians were killed and one is missing after merchant ships were attacked during the ongoing West Asia conflict, the Ministry of External Affairs said.

The war began on February 28 after the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran, escalating tensions across the region.

At least three ships were hit by unknown projectiles in the Strait of Hormuz, bringing the number of vessels attacked since the conflict began to 14.

The Thai-flagged cargo vessel Mayuree Naree caught fire after being struck, leaving three crew members missing while others were evacuated to Oman.

Other vessels, including ONE Majesty and Star Gwyneth, were also hit but their crews were reported safe.
