From colonial-era immigration policies to the Reconstruction Amendments, Dr. Law reveals how slavery, state competition, and the fight over who belongs shaped the nation’s immigration system—and why the federal government didn’t take control until surprisingly late.

  • The Unknown Edgar Allan Poe - Chris Semtner
    Mar 12 2026

Dr. Lynn Price Robbins and Isaac S. Loftus sit down with author and fine artist Chris Semtner to explore the lesser-known side of Edgar Allan Poe. Best remembered as the dark, brooding voice behind “The Raven,” Poe was far more than a master of the macabre. This episode reveals a witty, charming, and surprisingly scientific thinker whose personality—and ideas—challenge everything you thought you knew about him.

I’m not a history nerd but if I’d had instructors like all of the participants in these podcasts, I definitely would have been in that track! Fascinating And all
Of these stories behind the stories! Can’t give the entire podcast enough stars or praise!

Oh and only Audibles recent screwy lack of cohesiveness in being able to give reviews immediately after podcast or books… progress no doubt… stops me from reviewing the recent individual podcast.

Such a fun and informative podcast!
