  • Ep. 17 - Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974)
    Oct 24 2025

It’s time for a mechanical takedown! On this week’s episode of 2 Black Guys Talk Godzilla, Aaron Neuwirth and Terence Johnson look at 1974’s blend of myth and cosmic destruction in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, from director Jun Fukuda. Ambition was key with this entry, as Toho would introduce one of Godzilla’s most popular adversaries, Mechagodzilla, along with a fun mythical lion-like kaiju, King Caesar, awakened by a highly debated song. Listen to what the guys thought of this film, which they actually watched months ago with an audience at The Frida Cinema, then recorded immediately afterward in their car. Enjoy!

    Oct 10 2025

Time for kaiju absurdity to truly shine! On this week’s episode of 2 Black Guys Talk Godzilla, Aaron Neuwirth and Terence Johnson look at the famed 1973 camptastic entry Godzilla vs. Megalon, from director Jun Fukuda. Listen to what the guys thought of this film, how it compares to other Fukuda entries, the joy that is Jet Jagur, thoughts on the climactic battle, and other curiosities such as the various “friendships” depicted. Enjoy and punch, punch, punch!

  • Ep. 15 - Godzilla vs. Gigan (1972)
    Sep 26 2025

The claws really come out for this one! On this week’s episode of 2 Black Guys Talk Godzilla, Aaron Neuwirth and Terence Johnson tackle the 1972 kaiju brawler entry Godzilla vs. Gigan, from director Jun Fukuda. While things have gotten more family-friendly over the years, this is our bloodiest entry yet, despite primarily being set at a children’s theme park (featuring the legendary Godzilla Tower). Hear what the guys thought about this entry, including the Gigan design, the return of fan favorites Anguirus and King Ghidorah, the ample use of stock footage, and where this film sits in relation to the rest of the series so far. Enjoy!

  • Ep. 14 - Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971)
    Sep 12 2025

Time to talk pollution, by way of a kaiju movie! This week’s episode of 2 Black Guys Talk Godzilla has Aaron Neuwirth and Terence Johnson discussing a unique entry in Toho’s series, 1971’s Godzilla vs. Hedorah, aka Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster (it’s official American title), from director Yoshimitsu Banno. Given the significant shift in style, the film has always been an oddball, praised by some and ignored by others. Having Terence see it for the first time, the guys certainly had big thoughts to get into about how this film could have broken him, what Aaron thinks about the gory destruction on display, and a discussion regarding the legacy of the movie’s director, Banno. Enjoy!

  • Ep. 13 - All Monsters Attack (1969)
    Aug 29 2025

You know, for kids! Perhaps there was some dread on approach to this feature, but for this week’s episode of 2 Black Guys Talk Godzilla, Aaron Neuwirth and Terence Johnson discuss director Ishirô Honda’s very kid-friendly entry in the series, 1969’s All Monsters Attack, aka Godzilla’s Revenge (it’s official American title). With a reminder that Terence largely never knows what he’s getting into with these films, hear what the two have to say about what is often looked upon as one of the worst entries in the series, despite some reevaluation from some over the years. The two discuss the admirable nature of making a kid-friendly movie, but also highlight the apparent limitations on display, as well as the choices made and their impact on this flawed feature. Plus favorite moments, continued thoughts on Minilla, and more. Enjoy!
