“I don’t love you an atom; on the contrary, I detest you. But at the end of the same letter? He wrote, “I hope soon I shall clasp you in my arms and cover you with a million kisses…”

That’s Napoleon and Joséphine – a constant push and pull, up and down relationship. Before they became the first Emperor and Empress of France, she called him “Puss in Boots” behind his back while he wrote her mushy love letters.
