In today’s episode, Dr. Burkhalter shares an historical perspective on the Voting Rights Act of 1965 that was put in place to enforce the 15th amendment to the US Constitution, ratified by the states nearly 100 years earlier. In the midst of an election year, we talk about why it is necessary, how it was gutted and what it means for so many people in this country to encounter still today barrier after barrier just to be able to do something the constitution guarantees them the right to do.
