#011 / 26.02.2024 - A Wake-up Call, a Call to ACTION

The news that the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), one of whose sections is the so-called Gulf Stream, is likely to come to a halt in the medium term, although it has not received the attention it needs in the media, has at least had some impact on the media and the public. In this programme we explain what this ocean current is and what role it plays and what the effects of its stopping could be, all from the point of view of physicist Antonio Turiel, from the Institute of Marine Sciences in Barcelona, at the Spanish National Research Council.
