Loved this podcast

As a resident of the IE that moved here from Florida 6 years ago to get clean, I really enjoyed this podcast. When you mentioned that the two recovering addicts were living in the house of courage I was like no freakin way! I used to live at HOC but in the female house. It’s honestly the best sober living in the IE, easily. My first time at house of courage was also during my longest time sober. I was there for 9-10 months, and even became the house manager. I ended up relapsing and have been struggling to get and stay clean ever since. I went back to HOC 2 times after that first relapse but ultimately it didn’t last. I too, was using heroin, started shooting it and that went downhill FAST. I switched to fentanyl because my veins were so shot out and I was so tired of trying to find a vein to hit. I would literally be crying on the bathroom floor, blood everywhere not being able to find a vein. Fentanyl was the only thing I could switch to that would actually get me high by just smoking it. There was no way I could go back to smoking heroin. My life is a little more manageable since I stopped shooting up, but I am still miserable. Addiction effects everyone, it doesn’t discriminate. We need podcasts like this that bring awareness to just how prevalent it really is, even in our own backyard. I appreciate you listing some resources, I’m going to look into them. I need to get myself back into detox. I’m fucking tired of this shit.
