Charlie Gamble's rugby story began in his native New Zealand with the Crusaders academy yet missing selection to the NZ U20's team was the catalyst to send him to Australia to get to the professional ranks the long way around through Petersham, Easts in the Shute Shield before earning his first Super Rugby cap with the NSW Waratahs.
