002 - An Answer to a Young Unsettled Friend

You may wonder why I choose to engage with such a wild group as the Quakers, or why I take the time to write these brief lines in response to them. The truth is, they sent me five different papers—one containing the questions I now answer, while the others were filled with nothing but harsh and scornful words. On a day when I was confined to my room due to illness, they came to our assembly, questioning the preacher after the morning sermon. When he opted not to engage in public debate, they labeled him a hireling that flieth. Their bravado and challenges, combined with the expectations of naive onlookers for us to respond, compelled me to address their inquiries after a rather fruitless dialogue with a rather unreasonable critic. Thus, I present to you this concise response to their questions.
