בנוגע להנהגת מרדכי אחרי הנס פורים מצינו דבר פלא: לאחרי שמרדכי ראה איך שע"י ניצל כלל ישראל מגזירת המן, עד שנעשה "משנה למלך" (דרגה הנעלה ביותר שאפשר להגיע בזמן הגלות), הנה במקום להמשיך ב"עסקנות ציבורית"... עלה מבבל לארץ ישראל כדי שיוכל לעסוק בלימוד התורה ובקיום המצוות ונהי' א' מחברי הסנהדרין! ומזה לימוד נפלא לאלו העוסקים בעסקנות ציבורית (או בקו ד"זבולון" בכלל), שכל זמן שיש להם ציווי מנשיא הדור – עליהם להמשיך בעסקנות זו ולא "לברוח מהחזית", ולעבוד מתוך קב"ע והקדמת נעשה לנשמע כחלק מ"צבאות ה'", (כמו ב"צבא" כפשוטו שלא משנה חכמתו של המפקד – לכל לראש יש למלאות את הפקודה של מי שנתמנה להיות המפקד, ועאכו"כ כאשר מדובר אודות ציווי של ממה"מ הקב"ה!), אבל בשעת מעשה צ"ל אצלם תשוקה הכי גדולה לזמן שיוכלו להתיישב וללמוד תורה בהתמדה ושקידה! ובמילא ברגע שמרגיש או קיבל הוראה ברורה שהשלים עבודתו – ה"ה "עלה מבבל"! (וכן לפנ"ז – מנצל כל רגע פנוי ללימוד התורה).

Synopsis

After Mordechai’s position at the king’s gate helped save the Jewish people from Haman’s decree, and after Mordechai became second to the king (the highest possible rank one could reach during exile), instead of staying to continue his work on behalf of the public, he went up from Bavel to Eretz Yisroel to occupy himself with Torah and mitzvos and become a member of the Sanhedrin. The wondrous lesson for those involved in work on behalf of the community (or generally the path of Zevulun) is that as long as they have a directive from the Nasi HaDor, they must continue this work and not flee from the frontlines; they should carry out their mission with kabolas ol, carrying out their mission as part of Hashem’s army. But at the same time, they must feel the utmost longing for the time when they will be able to sit and learn Torah constantly and diligently. Accordingly, the moment one feels – or receives a clear directive –that his mission is complete, he should “go up from Bavel” (and even before then, he should utilize every free moment for Torah study).
