It is a profoundly human story about the clashing worlds of two brilliant engineers caught on opposite sides of the world's first true cyberwar—a war where the deadliest weapon is not a missile, but a secret, and the highest cost is not paid on the battlefield, but in the soul.

Excellent Cyberwarfare Novel!

As someone not well-versed in the genre of techno-thrillers and cyberwarfare, I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked this as my next read on my commute to and from work, but I'm glad I did!

From the very first chapter, the author dives right into the conflict and establishes a tension between Alex and Alavi that continues to build throughout the book. The story allows you to peer through the lenses of two engineers on opposite ends of a hyper-advanced cyber attack and moves you to feel deeply for both of them as they navigate the consequences that follow. On the final day of listening, I found myself happy to be in traffic as I did not want to wait another day to find out how the story ends!

Not only was the story excellent, but it's immediately apparent that the author is well-versed in cyber security/warfare which only served to build the plot and add to the believability of the events that unfolded.

Pro tip: There is an Acronyms section at the end of the book that is very helpful at explaining some of the more technical terms used, so if you are not well-versed in the world of cyber warfare, it may be helpful to listen to that section before you begin the read or for reference as needed.

Overall, Zero Day Cascade gets 5 stars from me, and I'm excited to read more from Alfred Gattenby's catalog!
