Acerca de esta escucha
Cyber warfare has become such an important element of our national security strategy that a new organization, Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, was created with the following mission statement (taken from CISA's official website) in mind: 'to serve as the nation's risk advisor working with partner's to defend against today's threats and collaborating to build more secure and resilient infrastructure for the future.'
State-sponsored cyber warfare, brings the ability to mount persistent and pervasive attacks against critical U.S. infrastructure. Chinese organizations involved in cyber hacking include units within the People's Liberation Army, the Ministry of State Security, the Ministry of Public Security, and various non-governmental entities from the private sector.
In this hauntingly realistic fictional account, Alexander is deployed to China to meet with a volunteer from the Ministry of Public Security, whose motivation to cooperate with the West stems from the callous treatment his father, a revered war hero, received as a result of corruption and cronyism in government and the provincial Communist Party hierarchy. Alexander is able to schedule a brief meeting in Chongqing, a city of 13 million, in Szechuan Province where the volunteer is based. After meeting him, Logan is convinced the volunteer is genuine, but it is too dangerous to meet him regularly inside of China.
Soon thereafter the volunteer is tapped to lead a small technical delegation to Bangkok, where Alexander and his prospective agent are able to conduct a lengthy one-on-one sit down meeting. Following this encounter Washington is convinced that the volunteer is the real deal, not a provocateur bent on exposing a secret U.S. operative conducting operations deep inside of China.
There follows a harrowing journey to discover and counter China's insidious plan to deal a blow to America's economy and its place in the world. Alexander is at the forefront of the U.S. effort to thwart China's goal to become the number one economy in the world.
