Acerca de esta escucha
Lena wrote You're Lying! because no matter what your profession or life circumstances, you need the skills to take control of a situation, detect deception, and reveal the truth. While you probably won't ever have to interrogate a detainee who doesn't want to tell you about an upcoming terrorist attack - as Lena has - You're Lying! will help you deal with that salesperson trying to rip you off, the kid bullying your child who claims innocence, a cheating spouse, or a dissembling boss. As the adage says, knowledge is power.
Lena interrogated numerous members of Al Qaeda and the Taliban while stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, then taught those skills to Defense Department personnel for years afterward. Her ability to build rapport, accurately read body language, and employ effective questioning techniques led to numerous successes that saved American lives. You will also learn her easy-to-follow five-step program on how to accurately detect verbal (both spoken and written) and nonverbal deceptive tells, how to conduct an effective line of questioning, and what to do after you identify the lies we all face every day. Take the knowledge in You're Lying! and empower yourself.

The secret to finding out anything you want to know is amazingly simple: Ask good questions. Most people trip through life asking bad questions - of teachers, friends, coworkers, clients, prospects, experts, and suspects. Even people trained in questioning, such as journalists and lawyers, commonly ask questions that get partial or misleading answers. People in any profession will immediately benefit by developing the skill and art of good questioning.

Statement analysis is the process of analyzing a persons words to see if the person is being truthful or deceptive. There are usually several ways you can phrase a statement. People will word their statement based on all their knowledge. Therefore, their statement may include information they did not intend to share. I Know You Are Lying will show you what to look for in a verbal and written statement to determine if a person is telling the truth. The statement analysis techniques will also show you how to obtain additional information from a statement.

The tipping point is that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire. Just as a single sick person can start an epidemic of the flu, so too can a small but precisely targeted push cause a fashion trend, the popularity of a new product, or a drop in the crime rate. This widely acclaimed bestseller, in which Malcolm Gladwell explores and brilliantly illuminates the tipping point phenomenon, is already changing the way people throughout the world think about selling products and disseminating ideas.

A very good unclassified explanation
Having tenured some of the same education as the author, I decided to give this title a listen. Most selections of this nature seem very open to interpretation. Lena describes the method very precisely as intended and explains the possible outcomes of each. This is a very good way to introduce a method in a practical way for application. Give it a listen.

Great book!
This book was very straightforward, providing a lot of useful information on detecting deception. I wish the methods provided for "extracting the truth" contained more examples relevant to/ tailored for questioning a significant other or spouse rather than interrogating a witness or criminal. While I wouldn't want to deviate from the overall guidelines, techniques, & insight provided in this book, I do have a hard time believing any spouse would be willing to sit through such extensive questioning should the need arise.
However, I am still eager to implement what I've learned through reading this.
