You're Going to Make It Through

Oh, sweet one. You’re in the thick of it. Of pain, or change. Of a hard marriage. Of a divorce. Of figuring out single mothering. Of a break-up. Of a health scare. Of losing your job. Of financial burdens. Of a child’s failure or heartbreak. Of a crisis of faith. And you might be doubting if you’re going to make it through this, whatever your current this is. Do me a favor. Name it. Say it out loud. What is your current hardship? Now let me encourage you. You are not alone. There is not one circumstance on this earth that someone else hasn’t been through. And when I say you are not alone, I also mean in a very real sense, that you never have and never will walk through anything that God hasn’t seen and felt. I know you’re scared. And sad. And grieving. And confused. And stumbling through the dark. But let me assure you...you, my darling, WILL make it through. I have no doubt. And – and this is the best part – you will be both stronger and softer on the other side. When you pass through the waters, I am with you; when you pass through the streams, they will not overwhelm you.
