Entertaining
I really enjoyed this story! The characters and storyline had me engaged from beginning to end. It was interesting and entertaining. I loved the banter between these two characters. I enjoyed the way that the relationship develops between them as well. They are both strong people and bump heads because of that. They have to learn to find a balance and what works for them in the midst of what's going on around them. Zoe ended her divorce due to infidelity and has moved on. She realizes that most of it lacked the passion and true partnership and wasn't looking for something to develop with Garrett but when they are put in closer confines with her now being the ADA for Major Crimes and Garrett being police chief something sparks. It starts off as something that is just supposed to be physical but there is a connection and draw that keeps pulling them back and having Garrett break his rules that he doesn't break. I found this story a great addition to the Olive and Twist series. They can be read as standalones as they follow different main characters but you do see characters from previous books pop up and if you have already read the previous books you will have already met the main characters here.
This is narrated by virtual voice and it wasn't horrible as the voice isn't robotic but it doesn't have the inflections added to it that reflect the emotions/actions happening in the story. It also fluctuates between pronouncing words and names correcting and incorrectly which was slightly irritating and did throw me off a little bit. It is from a "male" voice throughout and again it wasn't bad and it did allow me to listen to the story.
