When Quinn Byrne is threatened with eviction from his farm because the self appointed squire's son wants it to meet his lover, Quinn decides to walk over the hill to the squire's mansion and plead with him. Near the top of the hill he stops and rests. While he is sitting there he hears the squire cursing his horse as he was making it climb the hill. Quinn stands up so that he can speak to the squire but when he walks over the brow the horse rears and the squire falls. Quinn goes to his aid but the squire's neck is broken. To take the squire back might see him hang but whatever happened they would lose the farm as his son was now in charge.
