Resumen del Editor

"Once I started reading Worth the Fight, I literally could not stop. Matt Simpson valiantly climbs out of the dark trench of addiction and broken thinking - into the light. This is a humane, compassionate epic journey of a man who just had to get out of himself in order to find himself. His voice is so sincere and heartfelt it actually felt like it was me having the experience! The drama, the physicality, finding trust and peaceful bliss - at times it truly felt like I was actually living his life - it's that visceral. His writing on meditation was particularly helpful. Although it must be said, this is far more than a book about the power of ayahuasca and meditation, it's an amazing true story about how to heal and be in the world! Worth the Fight is well worth your time. My advice is to read this book as soon as you can!" (Alex Seymour, author Psychedelic Marine)

What if our trauma, our pain - what if that was our greatest strength?

Worth the Fight is a book about hope and healing. About what is possible if we heal trauma on an individual and collective level and come together over what is shared.

Worth the Fight calls for a love revolution that is fueled by forgiveness, compassion, kindness and selfless service to others: May we love more fiercely ourselves, our neighbors and the natural world! A peaceful movement that starts with the listener, a slow march to restore what has been withheld to our times that are defined by fear, discord, and conflict. A bold book of potentially viable, progressive solutions open-sourced and gifted to a world starved of love.

Generously shared, are insights and tools to overcome trauma or tools for majorly up-leveling your game, psychedelics not required.

Worth the Fight will:

  • Show you how to heal and overcome trauma with psychedelic medicines, meditation, and flow.
  • Empower through education by examining all aspect of these misunderstood healing agents of transformation and change.
  • Challenge all of your limiting beliefs by inspiring you to look within for a deeper purpose and calling in service to your fellow man and woman.
  • Guide you on the spiritual path, helping you find peace and more meaning in this remarkable human experience.
  • Invite you on a revolutionary journey of transformation into a world where anything is possible.

A Memoir & Labor of Love

Matt Simpson wasn’t an expert on psychedelics when he began the journey he presents in this book. But he was open to new experiences and committed to self-growth; I believe that’s what makes his story so satisfying.

He presents his personal discovery of psychedelics and how they changed his life with curiosity, wonderment, and gratitude. (This is especially clear in the audio version of the book which he reads himself.)

Matt’s detailed accounts of what it was like for him during his journey with ayahuasca, and later with psilocybin, are among the best accounts I've read. He quickly realizes these journeys are “work” and the goal is “to figure shit out” – such as working through fear, anger, shame, depression, and the lingering effects of childhood trauma. I think he used the words “humbling” and “painful” to describe what he felt following his first trip. (This is very different than the beautiful, mystical experiences that are often talked about by psychedelic users – users who feel like their lives have completely changed right after their trip, even for days and weeks after, but months later realize they haven’t really changed much at all.)

He emphasizes that most of the work happens after the psychedelic trip, through reflection, self-examination, and integration – a process that could take months, even years, but is well worth it for those suffering from serious psychological issues, such as war veterans and survivors of sexual abuse. He explains the integration process, as he experienced it, in great detail. I like how he refers to a psychedelic journey as an “intervention.” That seems to be exactly what it is; the conscious self is gently forced to engage with unconscious feelings, patterns, and behaviors. This engagement, if one is committed to the process, can literally change the self, and lead to a more satisfying and productive life.

Matt’s journey was one of trial-and-error and tough-love, as well as compassion and vulnerability. He was willing to do the difficult work, and it seems to have made all the difference for him. And hopefully, by his example, it will for many of us as well.
