The creation of this book was a labor of love from a father to his young son and wife, years in the making. One overarching lesson of this book is that truth can be found in all religious traditions, and many even share the same stories. The hope is that we can teach our children to see how similar we truly all are, not how different.
Many of these stories are classic spiritual tales that have stood the test of time. Here you will find stories of ancient rabbis, yogis, gods and goddesses, kings, mystics and madmen. You will also find some traditional moralizing fables, as well as stories about the founding figures of the world’s great religions. Many of the stories are short and sweet and funny, and often they leave you with a smile on your face. Some you might even want to share with a friend, not just read to your child.
On that note, this book will be of great interest to adults who are consciously seeking spiritual nourishment and wisdom. Just as a picture is worth a thousand words, often a simple story can enlighten in ways that mountains of learned discourse cannot. Moreover, the idea here is to point to our essential sameness, and these stories help to do just that. “Truth is One, sages call It by various names,” proclaim the ancient Vedas. This book is a way to demonstrate the truth of that ancient dictum.
So come inside and dig in, there’s a feast of delicately prepared ideas for you to partake of, one that you will surely find festive and fulfilling.
