Women, Work and Triumph: Interviews with Fascinating Women

This collection unfolds the riveting stories of 26 remarkable women from 5 countries, each excelling in a unique profession that spans the alphabet from A to Z. Designed to educate, empower, inspire, and support young girls transitioning into womanhood and young women embarking on their careers, it shines a light on the universal quest for acceptance and respect in a variety of fields, mostly dominated by men. Through these narratives, readers will discover the resilience and tenacity of women who have broken barriers, challenged stereotypes, and triumphed over adversity.

Dive into the life of a creative artist and entrepreneur, who, despite her success, faces the gender biases entrenched within financial institutions.

Learn about the dental assistant, outstanding in her role, who encounters discrimination because of her sexual orientation.
The collection also shares the story of a pioneering female jockey, the only woman to have competed in all three Triple Crown races, who used her initials to disguise her gender just to compete.

Further, it highlights the journey of a trailblazing Rabbi, the first second career rabbi, challenging centuries-old traditions to gain acceptance and respect in a religious community steeped in male-only leadership.

Embrace the courage of a 5’2” undercover FBI agent, illustrating her daring infiltration into criminal organizations, risking her life to protect others.

The achievements of a two-time Emmy Award-winning writer for the original Saturday Night Live show are celebrated, debunking the myth that "Chicks just aren’t funny," and setting a precedent for women in comedy and beyond.

This collection is a tribute to the undying spirit of women who have faced down obstacles, discrimination, and societal challenges. Their stories are a potent mix of determination, bravery, and resilience, providing a beacon of hope and inspiration for the next generation. By chronicling their journeys, the collection not only honors their individual achievements but also serves as a powerful reminder of the impact of striving for equality, acceptance, and respect in every sphere of life. These narratives encourage readers to persevere, challenge norms, and embrace their path with courage, ensuring that their voices are heard, and their contributions valued.

Generally, I enjoyed it. It was just the perfect type I needed. The author's idea of the “leadership ambition gap” was interesting to me because it’s entirely new and because of how plainly she lays it out. However, I think that in trying to encourage personal agency—lean in, speak up, take your seat at the table—it occasionally downplays just how immovable some of the structural barriers are. Will recommend.

I liked the book.
